Roses of Silverbell Tea and Honey: Delicious fun in Lake Orion!

Roses of Silverbell's Tea and Honey even:  bees, teas and more, please!

This weekend, Roses of Silverbell hosted a Tea and Honey tasting event - in other words, bees, teas and, more please!

We’re no strangers to this beautiful shop in the heart of downtown Lake Orion. We first met owners Kevin and Bonnie West last April (Roses of Silverbell: April in Paril and Lake Orion) and quickly invited them to join us on our podcast (BTS Podcast, June 19). It was during last month’s episode that Kevin mentioned their upcoming July Tea and Honey event. That day arrived yesterday, and when we walked in — alongside our culinary compadres and fellow podcasters, Rik and Carol D. — we were greeted not only by Kevin and Bonnie’s warm smiles but also by a gorgeous display of honey, teas, and sweet treats ready for sampling.

Two teas served, hot and iced.
Variety of honey served, including florals and blueberries.

Two teas were prepared: one iced, one hot — Blush Orchard White and Masala Chai, respectively. A generous selection of the shop’s signature honey was also available. Roses of Silverbell sources from two different apiaries, showcasing the best of Michigan’s east and west coasts. The lineup included wildflower, apple blossom, lavender, and blueberry.

Kevin took time to chat with us (see video clip below) and explained how honey interacts with tea to enhance flavor. As he put it, “Florals bring out the blends, and blueberries (and apple blossom) just pop.”

The teas were wonderful, and the honeys equally so — a deliciously interactive experience. Each stood great on its own, yet together they created something uniquely special.

Green Wagon Goods provided exquisite mini cakes - delightful to behold as they were to eat.

Adding to the indulgence, Roses of Silverbell partners with master baker Green Wagon Goods, who provided exquisite mini treats: tiny vanilla cakes layered with fruit and buttercream, dipped in white chocolate, and served in elegant individual domed plates. They were as delightful to behold as they were to eat.

Our shopping cart included Peach Oolong (great iced!) and a pretty and practical honey dispenser.

Naturally, we didn’t leave without a little shopping of our own. We picked up a honey dispenser (practical and pretty) and a package of Roses of Silverbell’s Peach Oolong. Both were put to immediate use that evening while entertaining at home. I brewed the Peach Oolong for iced tea and served it with wildflower honey — in its new dispenser, of course. Truly a big hit with our guests.

Kevin W. shows Carol the honey & tea package which can be sent throughout the U.S.

We also learned that Roses of Silverbell ships throughout the U.S. — and beyond!

We’re already looking forward to future events at Roses of Silverbell. And just a reminder: in addition to tea and honey, the shop is filled with lovely antiques and collectibles, making every visit a charming treasure hunt.
