Barb's TEA Shop to Host Tea Events at The Community House in Birmingham

This fall, Barb's TEA Shop will host a "Teddy Bear Tea and Etiquette" class for children. The event will be Saturday, September 29th from 1:00 - 3:00. Young people will have fun learning manners while having "tea" with their favorite doll, teddy bear or other stuffed animal.

In December, BTS will present "Holiday Tea and Etiquette". In a fun and informative evening, guests will learn the customs and courtesies associated with the most civilized ceremony as well as an introduction to the different types of teas, some delicious holiday tea recipes and how to brew the “perfect pot”. A discussion of tea etiquette will provide the essentials of afternoon tea protocol. In addition, a few “must see” tea rooms will be highlighted. Barb's TEA Shop Celebri -Teas Spring 2007

Barb's TEA Shop hit the road the first half of 2007 for a few exciting tea adventures and to connect with some of the true leaders in the tea industry.

In March, BTS, traveled to Louisville, Kentucky for the impressive Kentucky Crafted Market, a gathering of top artists of the region who create unique products for hearth and home. Here we met up with Shelly and Bruce Richardson, authors of several tea books and purveyors of fine teas. Always warm and welcoming, the Richardsons are unquestionably knowledgeable and passionate about tea.

Barb's TEA Shop now carries a full-line of Elmwood Inn teas as well as tea books from the Richardson's, Benjamen Press. These books cover topics from must-see tea rooms to delicious afternoon tea recipes, all with beautiful photographs and illustrations. For more information on ordering tea or these wonderful tea books, contact Barb's TEA Shop at barb@barbsteashop.com.

Then, off to the Big Apple last month to take a one-on-one tea tour of the city with renowned author, tea sommelier, and lecturer, Elizabeth Knight. We spent an intense day of shopping, sipping, and tasting throughout Manhattan: from sampling tea-infused chocolates at a specialty chocolatier to visiting New York's premier sources for antique and museum-quality reproductions of English and European tableware. We purchased an exquisite Limoge tea cup, the pattern of which was copied from the design selected by Marie Antoinette for china used at Versaille. It is très beau and BTS is opening up a money-market CD to save for a second one.

We visited several other tea rooms in the area as well as a quick trip downtown, via subway, to Greenwich Village. Our tea tour culminated in a relaxing and delightful afternoon tea at a charming tea room overlooking Madison Avenue. A most fitting ending to an enlightening tea tour of New York!

Barb's TEA Shop Seminars, now offers a "Tea in New York" presentation, complete with a slide show of all the requisite tea-time stops and, of course, a view of Marie-Antoinette's tea cup! For more information on "Tea in New York" or any other of our tea talks, contact Barb's TEA Shop at barb@barbsteashop.com or visit our website at www.barbsteashop.com.
